Learning Disabilities
Our Care
Our services are designed to empower people with learning disabilities, giving them the confidence to enjoy a full and independent life
Learning disabilities vary considerably from one person to another and may be mild, moderate, or more complex. They also may be associated with physical or emotional issues. They can have an impact on behaviour, relationships, learning, communication, and social skills.
The range of learning disabilities we can support includes Prader-Willi, Downs Syndrome, and some of the rarer forms of disability such as Angelman syndrome. We are increasingly providing personalised support for people with complex, profound and multiple needs.
Our focus on those we support is to create person-centred support plans to build on each person’s strengths, abilities, and aspirations. We do this in collaboration with service users, their families and involved professionals.
Routines are important to people with learning disabilities, especially autism. Each support plan, based on a full assessment, recognises that every individual with learning disabilities will develop at their own pace. Our teams adapt to the needs of the individual and identify alternative goal-achieving methods which may better suit the person.
Our trained carers help with monetary budgeting, travel training and support individuals to find work or volunteering opportunities in their communities.
We help build confidence, making small changes, to help people slowly develop abilities so they can live safely with as little support as possible. We are ambitious about what people can achieve and always celebrate achievements.
